The journey to find an oracle...

OK - I guess we are a little late to get our questions answered but it was fun searching.

Last weekend Josh and I rented a car and drove out to Delphi for a little camping and hiking. After taking the scenic route (as my dad likes to call it) we finally made it to Delphi. Do you know how hard it is to read road signs in Greek as someone is riding your bumper because you are going too slow? Don't worry we were able to find our way back with the map, at least we started learning the Greek alphabet better. I am actually kind of glad we took the scenic route - the towns we drove through were sooooooo cute...

Delphi was pretty amazing wish I could have seen it in its heyday the details that went into so many of the pieces blow my mind... Sorry the post is a little long, but I did narrow it down I promise!

Anyway, it had rained most of the morning drive to Delphi which was kind of nice since when we did get to the ruins there weren't many tourists to shoot around - darn tourists right?

Enjoy!

First was the Temple of Athena Pronaia

Speaking of tourists... Josh did your tour bus make you wear a t-shirts the same color as the bus in order to find you easily?

The next morning the sun did come out so Josh wanted to go get a few more pictures with blue skys in them.

The details and patterns that carved into the stones and pillars were amazing, I can't imagine how long it took to produce all of these works of art.

Then there was a gym just down the way. It was complete with a hot tub fed from a spring and two running tracks.

The fun part about Josh is his eye for photography... it is funny because we both see the shot we want; however often times they are of two completely different perspectives. Take these two for example, it is of the same object, just two different focuses...

And now onto the Temple of Apollo

It is crazy - the three tiers of stone in the left picture all had little inscriptions written on them, wish I knew what they said. Again, with the time and detail that went into making all these structures amazes me.

I have to admit it I think Josh got the shot of the day in this one above...

Yep I know we aren't in focus but oh well, still like the idea...

And the stadium... now for me I was expecting a big track similar to what we have now in order to run farther than 100 meter dash, but obviously if it is built in the side of a mountian, there is no room...

There post is complete - sorry for the long one, but hope you think it was worth it... Check back soon - I have all the pictures from the hike, our campsite as well as the side adventures on the way home!
